CALL FOR PAPERS adressing the urgent need for a paradigm shift in confronting global challenges such as climate change, inequality, and social tensions. Despite efforts to promote ethics, sustainable development, and sustainability, we argue that current approaches are insufficient to achieve “buen vivir” – a concept rooted in the Quechua philosophy of “sumak kawsay” emphasizing community, ecological harmony, and cultural awareness.
Our call challenges the prevailing “iron cage” frameworks of mass consumption and individual material accumulation, proposing a new paradigm that prioritizes collective wealth and social progress over economic ends. We advocate for placing the planet, ecosystems, humans, and societies at the center of decision-making in both business and policymaking.
Rejecting ideas like degrowth, de-globalization, transhumanism, and planetary colonization as viable solutions, we seek to align with marginalized thinking that challenges current norms. Scholars and philosophers like Eduardo Gudynas, Arne Naes, and Bruno Latour inspire our call to action, urging us to re-think, re-learn, and re-apply governance for planetary well-being.
